Monegasque residence permit
The application for a Monegasque Residence Permit is processed by the Residents, Certifications and Lost and Found Section of the Public Safety Department.
Any person aged 16 or over who wishes to stay in Monaco for more than three months a year or who wishes to take up residence there must apply for a residence permit from the Monegasque authorities.
A residence permit is not issued for minors under 16 years of age, but a Document de Circulation pour Étranger Mineur may be requested to facilitate travel abroad.
Following an application for a residence card, a "temporary" category card, valid for one year, will be issued without any requirement for length of residence. The issuing fee for a first card is €80.
The conditions for the settlement of foreigners on Monegasque territory differ according to the nationality of the applicant.
With regard to :
- European Economic Area (EEA) nationals The only requirement is to have a valid identity card or passport. No visa is required.
- Nationals of non-EEA countries. Before taking any action in the Principality, apply for a settlement visa for Monaco issued by the French authorities. Please note that this visa also concerns minors. Contact the French Consulate in your country of residence. Depending on the nationality and the country of origin, the formalities to be completed will be different.
